A university education is geared toward those with a thirst to understand the questions of "how", "why," and "what if." An undergraduate degree (typically 3-4 years) leaves doors open to explore employment in a variety of industries and professions. The majority of class time is dedicated to professors lecturing, while independent book-learning, researching and report-writing is often required outside of class time. Some courses require participation in seminars and/or labs to work in a smaller group to discuss, investigate and create. The overwhelming story is that Canadian university graduates do well, economically and socially. [A degree] is still the surest path to prosperity.
