A "victory lap" (in Ontario) is taking an extra semester or full year in high school. An extra year may be needed if you haven't met all of the requirements to earn your high school diploma or you don't yet have the required courses for post-secondary programs that you are interested in. Online courses and adult education centres through the local school boards do exist if you need only a few courses. Also, a victory lap is still an option to return to school "just because," but many school boards are discouraging this.
Few students staying on for fifth year of high school
How does Ontario's 34-credit threshold affect your victory lap option?
Talk to a guidance counsellor at your school if you are considering this option. Each school board has their own policies on returning for a fifth year of high school. Private schools usually are happy to receive tuition for a semester or year from you, but some have conditions.
